Introduction to Printmaking on Clay Workshop.
Enjoy the fun and serendipity of printing directly onto clay with multiple traditional print processes. This one-day workshop is suitable for beginners and the more experienced art maker.
Learn new ways to decoratively embellish clay using the impression of colour, texture and the transfer of images onto wet and leather hard clay. Art makers will be guided through a variety of ways to layer imagery and work with the clay surface.
You will be guided through a variety of traditional printmaking techniques, including intaglio, embossing with collage, stencil application tips and silkscreen tissue paper transfer of prints. Instead of using paper you will use clay.
Linda Swinfield is a Blue Mountains based contemporary artist, teacher with printmaking as the spine of her work. Swinfield constructs visual stories within her work, incorporating the landscape, family history, social histories, and site-specific memory.
Swinfields’ art practice began in 1979 when she majored in analogue photography and experimental painting at Meadowbank TAFE in Sydney. Continuing her education with Lithography and drawing at COFA and completing a Masters of Fine Art at The University of Newcastle in 2009. Recent career highlights include being awarded a Highly Commended for the Blue Mountains Print Prize and the Australian winner of Print Day in May (Neil Wallace Award) in 2021, and she was a recipient of the 2022 Blue Mountains City of the Arts Trust Grant.
